Older people sit inside the Sustainable Development Goals: health, reduced inequality, decent work for caregivers, sustainable cities, and communities that remain livable as populations age.
Why SDGs belong next to day care and group homes
Adult day care, home care and group homes are how societies deliver “leave no one behind” in later life. Caregiver shortages, unpaid family care (often women), and rural access in places such as Kagoshima and Kumamoto are development issues, not only private family problems.

- Health and well-being: healthy aging, dementia literacy, fall prevention
- Gender equality and decent work: paid and unpaid caregiving
- Reduced inequalities: who can afford assisted living vs who relies only on family
