Japan’s public long-term care insurance funds home-visit care, day services (通所介護 / デイサービス), short stays, dementia group homes (グループホーム) and facility care, with a care manager building a plan after a need certification (要介護・要支援). Copayments, rent and meals are separate from the insured care portion. Rules are national in outline and local in the details; always confirm with the municipal office or a current care manager.
